Money Notes from Sharon

Short, practical writing about the parts of money people actually get stuck on: following through on a plan instead of collecting another one, running a business without spreadsheet chaos, and getting honest about what your money is currently doing. No jargon, no shame, and nothing you need a finance background to use. If a post raises a question about your own situation, a Gifted Strategy Session is the place to ask it. Where To Start

There is no order you are supposed to read these in. But people arrive here stuck on one of about four things, so it is worth saying which post is for which.

If Your Budget Keeps Falling Apart

Start with Why Budgets Fail (And What To Do Instead). It is the longest thing here and the one most people recognize themselves in. The short version is that most budgets are built around the month you think you should be having rather than the one you are actually having, and a plan written for an imaginary life gets abandoned by a real one. That is a design problem, not a discipline problem.

If You Already Know What To Do and Still Aren't Doing It

Read Why Follow-Through Beats More Information. This is the most common place to be stuck and the least talked about, because it is not solved by another article. If you have read plenty and changed little, the missing piece is almost never information.

If Money Is Something You and Your Partner Fight About

Handle Money as a Couple Without Fighting is about the argument underneath the argument. Most money fights are two people running different rules that neither of them ever said out loud, which is why they repeat and why they rarely get settled by looking at the numbers again.

If You Run a Business

Small Business Cash Flow Without the Chaos covers owner pay, taxes and irregular income, and the specific problem of business money and personal money feeling like one anxious pile. Irregular income is a timing problem. It gets treated as a character flaw far too often.

If You Are Considering Coaching and Want To Know What Happens

What Happens in a Gifted Strategy Session describes the first conversation, which is free and carries no obligation. Worth reading first if what is holding you back is not the money but the suspicion that a free call is a sales call wearing a disguise.

Everything here is written to be usable on its own. If a post raises a question about your own situation rather than answering one, that is the point at which a Gifted Strategy Session is more use than another article, and you can also just ask.

Common Questions

Common Questions About These Posts

Who writes them, and what they are for.

Who Writes These?

Sharon Kamas, M.Ed., a Certified Financial Coach and Certified Life Coach based in Houston. The posts come out of coaching sessions rather than research, which is why they tend to be about the places people get stuck rather than the mechanics of a technique.

Is Any of This Investment Advice?

No, and none of it is a product pitch either. Sharon does not sell insurance, investment products, or securities. The posts cover behavior, cash flow, debt, savings, and the habits that decide whether a plan survives a hard month.

Can I Just Use This Without Hiring Anyone?

Yes, and plenty of people do. Everything here is written to be usable on its own. Coaching exists for the gap between reading something sensible and doing it every week when life gets in the way, which is a different problem from not knowing what to do.
